inspired by sicily, va va voom!

Today I’m sharing one of my ‘go to’ recipes, created by my boss’s wife after a trip to Italy – Laura’s Sicilian inspired cous cous.  She says this recipe emulates the fresh ingredients and colours of her summer holiday.  I say this recipe can be eaten all year round, served hot or cold, and provided I’ve got my black lace Dolce & Gabbana number on and perfected that Monica Bellucci pout, I may as well be sitting on some cobblestone steps in Palermo or Catania.       Buon appetito!   Cat

We’re pleased to announce that we have reached yet another key milestone on the Kitchen Angel journey this week.  In fact we were successful in achieving it sooner than expected!    Drum roll please ….   We’ve secured a flagship store in Brisbane where the Kitchen Angel product range will be sold direct, where we will hold baking demonstrations and of course, have the obligatory coffee bar.    We’re so excited and can’t wait to share all of the details with you.  But until then, we thought we’d throw in a little teaser.  Rather than tell you where it is, we thought we’d run a competition to see if you can guess where our store will be.  Here are your clues:   1.  It’s approximately 3 km from the Brisbane CBD 2.  We’re in a commercial precinct 3.  Steinway, Boston & Essex – we love the sound of them   The first person to

On a not so cloudy day, we collaborated with the very talented Trudy Florence.  Trudy is a woman of many talents – painter, photographer and blogger to name a few, and the creative mind behind the website Cloudy Dreams where she uploads her own hand painted cards that can be downloaded for free.  She also shares her thoughts and life through one of my favourite blogs, the self-titled trudyflorence.com, and to top it off, she manages to do it all while living out her dream – travelling, working and creating art around Europe.  Ah bless, a very deserving person living out a wonderful dream!       Trudy has been generous enough to create some hand painted gift cards designed especially for Kitchen Angel.  We love these designs and think they make the perfect finish to any baking mixes, supplies, gift packs or baked creations.  So next time you bake something for that someone special,

have you tried our baking mixes?

It’s been a good few months since I launched my Kitchen Angel product range to market and thought this was the opportune time to take stock of what my team and I have achieved.  We’ve had a couple of successful stands at the Boutique Markets and Fine Food Queensland show and have also been fortunate enough to sell our products to some great cafes, restaurants and food stores.  It has been a pleasure to see how others have taken to using the baking mixes and made them their very own.  My staff have also become quite skilful in the kitchen and tried lots of different flavour combinations.  While the natural flavours of the baking mixes do really hold their own, I have also enjoyed some different combinations – pistachio and fig, chilli infused, hazelnut, cranberry and white chocolate.  My number one favourite so far though has been the almond and lemon frangipane tart (thanks
